Commission is an important fee in cross-border e-commerce platforms, and different platforms have different charging criteria. As a leading cross-border e-commerce platform, Lazada has also adopted a commission system and charges according to certain rules. For sellers, it is very important to understand and confirm the commission criteria of the Lazada platform.
The commission of the Lazada platform is calculated based on the product price on the PDP page minus the seller’s discount. It is worth noting that the discount here does not include the platform discount. When calculating the commission, the seller needs to deduct the part of the discount that he bears. The commission collection ratio is formulated according to the product category, and different product categories have different commission ratios. In addition, the calculation of the commission is based on each item in the order. If an order contains multiple items, the commission of each item needs to be calculated one by one.
As for the timing of collecting commissions, the Lazada platform stipulates that commissions will only be charged after the order status is updated to “Delivered”, which means that Lazada will only charge the corresponding commission to the seller after the customer successfully receives the goods and confirms that there are no problems. For other order statuses, whether it is cancellation, return or other situations, no commission will be charged.
The specific commission rate can be checked in the ASC backend. It is specifically mentioned here that international sellers have a higher level of commission rate and can enjoy a relatively more favorable commission policy.
In order to optimize the LazMall seller environment and continue to provide high-quality professional services and resources, Lazada has adjusted the commission for LazMall cross-border store transactions from June 1, 2021. Depending on the category, LazMall’s commission will be adjusted between 3% and 6%. The specific adjustments are as follows:
The commission for products in category 01 (including Mobiles, Laptops, Televisions, Drones, Audio, Electronics Accessories, Monitors&Printers, SmartDevices) is adjusted to 6%.
The commission for products in category 02 (including Fashion category, FMCG category, GM category, Digital category) is also adjusted to 6%.
These adjustments apply to all cross-border businesses, and orders generated from June 1, 2021 will be charged according to the adjusted commission rate.
In addition to commissions, Lazada store operations also require a deposit, and some handling fees may incur in the process of payment. The deposit is a way for Lazada to ensure the security of transactions, and the handling fee is the fee paid to third-party institutions when funds are transferred. Although these fees need to be borne by the seller, I believe that as long as the seller works hard to run the store and make full use of the resources and services provided by the Lazada platform, these fees can be easily earned back.
For more detailed information and specific operational details, sellers, please refer to the relevant documents, or consult the customer service team of the Lazada platform. Lazada has always been committed to providing sellers with a good operating environment and support to help sellers achieve greater success.
