When writing a customer development letter, no matter how well written the content is, without a good subject, your email may be lost in the crowd of emails. Therefore, a good email subject will greatly increase the probability of the salesperson’s customer development letter being replied to. A good subject contains some important words, such as low price, discount, coupon, direct manufacturer, custom design, hot-sales, new-innovated, etc. If you know the customer’s name, you can also put it in the subject, because this will make the customer think that you may know each other and open the email. In business practice, some salesmen often use the email reply mark “RE” + “email subject” as the subject of the customer development letter, but this kind of subject writing will also make customers feel that the salesperson is taking shortcuts, so it should be used with caution.
Here are some examples of good topics:
Hurry up, grab at least 50% off on+product
Hello+customer name+ order now and get big discount
Hot sale umbrellas from +company name
Direct manufacturer for+product
Direct from China+for+product
Newly launched +product+fromcompany nameNew arrival of+product+from company name
It should be noted that for development letters inviting customers to participate in exhibitions, the exhibition can be used as the theme, and the theme format is “Please visit our stand +booth+at+exhibition+in+country/region”. For example, Please visit our stand A139 at PPP Fair in Kenya. Note the two prepositions here, “at+exhibition+in+country/region” is a fixed combination.
Some salesmen write customer development letters with the subject line: Will you come to Canton Fair? or Welcome to Top Furniture Booth in the furniture fair. However, when the customer has no time to open your email, even if the customer will attend the Canton Fair (China Import and Export Fair), he or she will know nothing about your company’s booth. This is a relatively unsuccessful email subject line.
