Detailed explanation of AliExpress platform evaluation rules

The evaluation system of the AliExpress platform mainly includes two categories: credit evaluation and seller sub-scores. Credit evaluation allows both parties to evaluate each other’s credit status after the order transaction is completed, including two parts: a five-point score and a comment. The seller’s sub-score is based on the buyer’s anonymous rating after the order transaction is completed in three aspects: the accuracy of the product description provided by the seller, the quality of communication and response speed, and the reasonableness of the product delivery time. This is a one-way evaluation.

Credit evaluation rules

For credit evaluation, both the buyer and the seller can evaluate each other within 30 days after the transaction ends. However, if neither party evaluates, the order will not have an evaluation record; if one party evaluates but the other party does not, the system will not automatically Give the evaluator a default evaluation (there is no default evaluation for the seller’s sub-item rating).

Calculation of positive rating and credit points

The calculation rules for product/merchant positive feedback ratings (Positive Feedback Ratings) and merchant credit points (Feedback Score) are as follows:

  • Only one evaluation of the same seller by the same buyer within the same natural day (i.e. 1st to 10th, 11th to 20th, 21st to 31st of each month) will be included in the star rating.
  • When the same buyer makes multiple evaluations of the same seller within the same natural period, they will be summarized according to the types of positive, medium and negative reviews, and each evaluation type will only be counted once.
  • In the seller’s sub-item rating, the same buyer’s multiple ratings of a certain item of the same seller within the same natural period are averaged.

In addition, reviews in the following situations will not be included in the positive rating and credit points:

  • Orders with transaction value less than $5;
  • The buyer filed a dispute over non-receipt of the goods and did not take the initiative to cancel;
  • Evaluations for special products (such as freight charges, gifts, etc.).

In other cases, regardless of the order amount, the evaluation will be: +1 for positive reviews, 0 for neutral reviews, and -1 for negative reviews.

Review File

The evaluation file contains three parts: recent evaluation summary, evaluation history and evaluation record. Among them:

  • Summary of recent reviews: member company name, praise rate in the past 6 months, number of reviews in the past 6 months, credibility and membership start date.
  • Evaluation history: Indicators such as positive review rate, neutral review rate, negative review rate, number of reviews, and average star rating in the past 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and the cumulative historical period.
  • Evaluation records: all evaluation records obtained by members, all evaluation records given, and designated evaluation records within a specified time period.

The positive review rate and negative review rate are calculated by formulas:

  • Positive review rate = number of positive reviews within 6 months / (number of positive reviews within 6 months + number of negative reviews within 6 months).
  • Negative review rate = number of negative reviews within 6 months / (number of positive reviews within 6 months + number of negative reviews within 6 months).
  • Average star rating = total star rating of all reviews / number of reviews.

Evaluation modification and management

For credit evaluations, both buyers and sellers can reply and explain the negative reviews they have received. If the seller has objections to the neutral review given by the buyer, he can contact the buyer to modify it within 30 days after the evaluation takes effect; similarly, the buyer can also modify the neutral review of the seller within this period. However, modifications are limited to changing negative reviews to positive reviews, and the number of modifications is limited to once.

It is worth noting that once a buyer submits a seller’s sub-rating, the rating takes effect immediately and cannot be changed. If the buyer’s credit evaluation is deleted, the corresponding seller’s sub-score will also be deleted.

Review content supervision
