Amazon prohibits the sale of all products that contain restricted batteries or advertise that they contain restricted batteries (even if the batteries are not contained in the product).

1. Products containing restricted batteries

If the platform finds such products, the official appeal will not be accepted by the seller.

2. Restricted batteries are not actually contained in the packaging

If the packaging does not actually contain restricted batteries, but one or more restricted batteries are advertised on the product detail page or in the image, the product will be banned from sale, but you can appeal in the following ways:

(1) Remove all marketing claims that the product contains restricted self-contained cylindrical lithium-ion batteries;

(2) Update the product detail page/product image to add a clear statement that the product does not sell restricted self-contained cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, and put “The product does not sell self-contained cylindrical lithium-ion batteries” as the first product bullet point on the product detail page.

3. Products with self-assembled restricted battery packs

If the battery is not sealed/packaged and the individual batteries are disassembled, it will be banned from sale and there is no appeal path.

If the seller believes that the ASIN has been removed from the shelves in error, please contact the seller support team of the site where the product is sold or provide detailed information to appeal according to the instructions or instructions in the Amazon email notification received by the seller.

The appeal email of the Amazon North American team is highrisk-eleetroniesafety@amazon.com;

The appeal email of the Amazon Australian team is highrisk-eleetronicsafety@amazon.com.au.

Let us illustrate the restriction of products through scenarios.

Scenario 1

If the product is a headlamp with restricted independent cylindrical lithium batteries, and the product page indicates that it carries such batteries, is it allowed to be sold? No. According to Amazon’s prohibition rules: products with independent restricted batteries are not allowed to be sold. If the product is a headlamp, it is sold without restricted independent cylindrical lithium batteries. Is it allowed to be sold? Yes. If the product does not contain a prohibited battery type, please note:

(1) Delete all marketing statements that the product contains independent cylindrical lithium-ion batteries;

(2) Add a statement on the product detail page that clearly states that the product does not sell restricted independent cylindrical lithium-ion batteries.

If the product is a headlamp with restricted independent cylindrical lithium batteries, but the relevant product description is removed, is it allowed to be sold? No. All products containing independent restricted batteries are prohibited from being sold on Amazon US, Canada, and Australia.

Scenario 2

If the product contains restricted lithium-ion batteries of the relevant model and has passed the tests required by UL and other laboratories in accordance with local laws, can it be sold on Amazon US? No. Amazon US, Canada, and Australia do not allow the sale of independent restricted lithium-ion batteries, even if the product comes with a battery test report. These restricted lithium-ion batteries may not be sold separately or with products.

Scenario 3

Can the product be sold if it has a built-in battery pack? How does Amazon define independent restricted batteries? If the product is a built-in battery pack, can it be sold? Restricted batteries sold independently refer to single/independent batteries sold outside of the battery assembly or restricted batteries sold with equipment (such as chargers, battery cases, etc.). Such products are prohibited from being sold on Amazon.

If the product is a built-in battery pack, it can be sold, but the built-in battery pack can only be sold when the restricted battery is enclosed/wrapped to prevent the individual batteries from being disassembled.
