Does the customs allow individuals to carry or mail religious printed materials and audio-visual products into the country?

Religious printed materials and audio-visual products carried or mailed into the country by individuals are allowed to enter the country if they are within the scope of personal use and reasonable quantity. Religious printed materials and audio-visual products that exceed personal use and reasonable quantity or are imported in other ways will be taxed and released by the customs based on the certificate issued by the State Administration of Religious Affairs, the provincial government religious affairs management department entrusted by it, or other administrative departments of the State Council.

If there is no relevant certificate, the customs will handle it in accordance with the relevant provisions of the “Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Implementation of Customs Administrative Penalties” (hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations on the Implementation of Customs Administrative Penalties”). Distributed religious printed materials and audio-visual products are prohibited from entering the country. Distributed religious printed materials and audio-visual products refer to printed materials and audio-visual products that are transported, carried, or mailed into the country, are not within the scope of personal use and reasonable quantity, have obvious dissemination characteristics, and violate national religious affairs laws and regulations and relevant policies.
