Amazon said that false or misleading sales through “two-step URLs,” “super URLs,” “Funnels,” “Treasurehunt,” and “search-find-buy” violate the Amazon Seller Code of Conduct. Let’s take a closer look at these situations:
1. Two-step urls (two-step URLs)
Commonly known as keyword links, two-step URLs are used when buyers search for specific items through two-step copying. When searching for keywords, the search URL will be copied. When purchasing goods, it seems that the product is purchased through keyword search
This kind of off-site promotion link helps to improve keyword rankings. Many sellers have done similar operations before.
2. super urls (super URL)
Super URL is a way to directly link to the Amazon product page list by creating a URL that copies specific parameters. These parameters are designed to show Amazon the exact source of the click, attribute sales from off-site traffic to sales from organic traffic, and help improve the ranking of the listing.
3. Funnels
The so-called funnel does not refer to a real funnel, but uses the shape of the funnel to vividly describe a sales strategy. The official original text roughly means to guide buyers to perform a series of operations through a large traffic window, and ultimately guide buyers to list to achieve the purpose of sales.
4. Treasurehunts
Promote products at preferential prices within a certain period of time, and then give buyers other products. Taking Taobao as an example, many buyers will establish product links and then give away free items unrelated to the product (usually paper towels) in the form of promotions to increase sales.
5. search-find-buy (search-search-buy)
Guide buyers to enter the keywords required for the product in the search bar outside the site and find the purchase on the results page. It is also illegal to purchase products from home listings.
For example, the seller promotes the seller’s products on social media, but does not provide links directly, but tells buyers how to find the seller’s products on Amazon through the search function; or tells buyers via email or after-sales card How buyers find their products through search and buy them. These are illegal.
To put it simply, the point at which Amazon determines off-site volume violations is not the size of the discount ratio or the single quantity released, but whether the seller manually improves the ranking when doing discount activities. If it’s just a simple transaction volume that improves rankings by increasing sales and conversion rates, it won’t break the rules.
