The free shipping method adopted by domestic e-commerce sellers is not popular in European and American markets. Even on large platforms like Amazon, there are rules for free shipping after a certain amount of yuan. In addition, the shipping fee is the shipping fee you charge the customer, not the logistics fee you charge for shipping.
Before setting shipping costs, make sure the currency unit is set in the Shopify backend. If you mainly focus on the US market, you should choose the US dollar, and if you mainly focus on the Japanese market, you should choose the Japanese yen, etc.
The specific operations of shipping and delivery settings are as follows:
Log in to the Shopify backend and click the “Settings”-“Shipping and Delivery” button.
In the page that opens, click the “Manage Rates” button.
In the page that opens, click the “Create shippable area” button.
In the “Region Name” text box in the “Create Region” selection, choose a name that is easy for you to understand (not visible to customers). In the “Search countries and regions” search box, you can search for the countries and regions where you want to sell products. For example, if some sellers only want to sell products to customers in the United States, they can enter the United States here and check the box in the search results. If some sellers want to sell products to customers in multiple countries and regions, they can only check the countries and regions in Asia and other continents one by one: open them one by one. No matter how many countries and regions you select, be sure to click the “Finish” button after checking them.
It should be reminded that if customers from selected countries and regions enter your Shopify independent station, they will not be able to place orders because the system does not support sales in their regions.
At this time, the newly created shipping area will appear on the page, and the system will prompt “There is no rate. Customers in this area will not be able to complete checkout.” Therefore, you need to set shipping rates for this new area, click the “Add Shipping Rate” button.
In the pop-up that opens, select the default “Set your own shipping costs” radio button. Then, click the “Add Condition” button.
Select the “Based on order price” radio button instead of the “Based on product weight” radio button. Because calculating freight by weight is very troublesome, it requires you to fill in the accurate weight in advance on each product page, and then set the freight corresponding to each weight range. Whether you place an order on AliExpress or ship it yourself, it is very troublesome to get the exact weight and packaging weight of each product. Therefore, in the actual operation process, it is generally chosen to set the shipping fee based on the order price, which is convenient for you and easy for customers to understand.
If you want to set up completely free shipping, you can leave the minimum price, maximum price and price (default is 0) and fill in the freight name (the freight name for free shipping is usually written as Free Shipping). Then click the “Finish” button.
If you want to set up free shipping only when a single order reaches a certain amount (for example, 80 yuan, please select the common currency unit of the target market), you need to set up two shipping rates.
The first one: fill in 0 for the minimum price, 80 yuan for the maximum price, 4.99 yuan for the price, and StandardShipping (Under 80) for the shipping name, that is, the charging standard for orders with an order amount equal to or less than 80 yuan. Shipping fee is 4.99 yuan, then click the “Finish” button.
Second: fill in the minimum price of 80.01 yuan, do not fill in the maximum price, the price defaults to 0, fill in the freight name Free Shipping, that is, free shipping for orders with an order amount exceeding 80 yuan, and then click “Complete” ” button.
In this way, when the single order amount is less than 80 yuan, the shipping fee page will prompt that the shipping fee is 4.99 yuan. When the single order amount exceeds 80 yuan, the shipping page will prompt free shipping.
