The online store section also has many important settings, such as templates, domain names, etc. Many new sellers may ignore the settings here and just wonder why their Shopify independent station is different from others. Take a look below.

Template

After registering a Shopify standalone account, you still have a lot of work to do, and using Shopify templates is a very important item. When I first started running a Shopify independent website, I struggled for a long time: Which Shopify template is easy to use? Do I have to use a paid template?

(1) Use the free template officially provided by Shopify Or a paid template.

First, log in to the Shopify backend and click the “Online Store” → “Template” button.

Scroll down the open page to the bottom.

If you click the “Browse Free Templates” button, you can see that there are currently 9 free templates officially provided (only 6 are shown in the picture). I highly recommend “Debut” and “Brooklyn” for new sellers. Especially the Brooklyn template, which is the most used template by sellers among the officially provided free templates.

If you click the “Visit Template Store” button, Shopify’s official template store page will open. Click the “All themes” button in the directory to see that there are free templates here. , and there are paid templates. Of course, paid templates are expensive, with the cheapest one costing $160. Prestige is the template with the largest number of users among the officially provided paid templates and costs $180.

(2) Use templates provided by third parties. They are basically paid templates.

Among them, the most well-known third-party template provider is Theme Forest. Its Shopify templates are much cheaper than the templates officially provided by Shopify. After entering its website, enter “Shopify” in the search box at the top to search, and you will see all Shopify templates.

Click the “Best sllrs” button to see the most installed templates, such as Ella, Wokiee, and Fastor.

It should be reminded that, The template provided by the third party you download is a compressed file. There will be many files related to the template in the compressed file, such as Documentation, Licensing and other files that do not need to be uploaded. Therefore, you first need to decompress and find the template file that needs to be uploaded. , and then upload it in the Shopify backend. After the template is successfully uploaded, it is inactive by default. You need to click the “Actions” button corresponding to the template and select the “Publish” button in the drop-down menu to publish the template.

No matter what channel you use to purchase theme templates, during the selection process, you need to pay special attention to the following points. (1) Purchase from formal channels and never blindly use those so-called “paid templates” that are given away for free. The stability and security of the template itself are the most important. If there are bugs (vulnerabilities) in the template code and you can’t find anyone to fix them, it will be useless.

(2) Choose an appropriate template according to the positioning and product categories of your independent website. Don’t have a mismatched style, which will look very awkward and unprofessional.

(3) Do not add too many elements to the template, as this will slow down the opening speed of the website and affect the customer’s shopping experience.

(4) Carefully check the purchase evaluation of the template, especially the advantages and disadvantages, and decide whether to buy it after a comprehensive weighing.

(5) Consider whether the template is adaptive. Because shopping is becoming more and more mobile, it is very important whether the independent website can be displayed perfectly on different models of mobile phones.

The following uses the Debut template as an example to introduce related buttons.

Preview: After clicking this button, you can preview the display effect of the Debut template on the front desk of the independent station, which is how the independent station will look like when visitors see it on the front desk of the Shopify independent station.

Rename: After clicking this button, you can change the name of this template from Debut to any name. Copy: After clicking this button, your Shopify backend will generate a copy file of the Debut theme. The function of this button is usually to layout your Shopify independent station. Before modifying the code, you need to make a backup of the current template. If a problem occurs, you can activate the backup template file as soon as possible to restore the independent station to normal.

Download template file: After clicking this button, you can quickly copy the current Shopify independent station style to your Shopify independent station to avoid resetting it.

Edit code: All code modifications to Shopify templates are made after clicking this button. It is recommended to use the copy function to back up the code before modifying it to avoid unnecessary trouble. In addition, new sellers should not try to use this function lightly.

Edit language: After clicking this button, you can modify the language of the Shopify independent station and the text content of the frame. The text content of a Shopiy independent station consists of two parts. One is something you can add and modify directly in the Shopily backend, such as product title, description, price, page content, etc., and the other is something you cannot modify directly in the Shopifty backend. , such as the “AddtoCart” text on the shopping cart button, etc.

Finally, it should be reminded that a Shopify independent station can install up to 20 templates at a time, that is, 1 published template and 19 unused templates. Published templates. Therefore, it is recommended that you install several more templates, configure them separately, and then choose the most suitable template for publishing.
