Starting January 16, 2019, only sellers pre-approved by Amazon can list refurbished products.

1)The origin of Amazon Renewed:

Amazon’s refurbished program was previously named “Certified Refurbished on Amazon,” with the company describing it at the time as “one of the newest and fastest-growing programs on Amazon, providing consumers with high-quality certified refurbished consumer electronics.” However, The project has now been renamed “Amazon Renewed.”

Sellers must apply to and receive approval from Amazon Renewed before they can sell refurbished products. However, unapproved sellers can still sell second-hand products (marked as “used”) according to standard ASIN codes.

2)Benefits of Amazon Renewed:

Amazon says the benefits of Amazon Renewed include “the ability to enjoy a 90-day (or longer) warranty from sellers vetted and managed by Amazon, which can save consumers significant costs on nearly new products.”

Amazon tells sellers that the process of refurbishing a product typically includes diagnostic testing, replacement of any defective parts, a thorough cleaning and inspection process, and, where appropriate, repackaging. “You can ship the product to consumers as a brand new product together with all related accessories, and the product should provide at least a 90-day limited warranty.”

3)Amazon Renewed’s products include the following categories:

Computers, smartphones, tablets, cameras, video game consoles, headphones and audio, televisions, office equipment, household and industrial appliances, watches, household appliances, kitchen appliances, auto parts, outdoor sports, gardening, musical instruments , home improvement, home theater, Amazon devices and “Refurbished Deals”.
