Manually add new products

Manually add new products means manually adding a single new product in the Wish backend, located in the “Product” → “Add New Product” → “Manual” menu.

Basic Information

Basic information includes the product’s title, description, tags, and SKU.

1. Title

Product Name literally translates to “product name”, which is very different from Product Title’s literal translation of “product title”. In other words, for the Product Name option, Wish hopes to fill in a simple and accurate product name, rather than a long title with many key attributes. At present, most merchants colloquially refer to Prodact Name as the product title, or simply the title.

Officially recommended title writing method: brand name or product name + up to 3 key attributes + general product type.

Examples are as follows:

?Acceptable: Men’s Dress Casual Shirt Navy

?Acceptable: Women’s Solid Color Black Dress Pants

?Unacceptable: Best Price!!!**CHEAP** Baby Stroller!!!

Notes:

?The product name must be clear and accurate, as short as possible, and should be able to describe the product to be sold.

?General product type words such as Color and Size can be added after the title.

?Do not add meaningless symbols such as! , @, #, 5, %, and *.

?Words such as Cheap. Hot. New, Free Shipping, Promotion, Discount. Fat MM cannot be used.

2. Description

Description is a detailed and accurate description of the product. The requirements for description are as follows.

?The default is to fill in English, with a limit of 4000 characters, and only the first 250 characters will be displayed on the initial mobile page.

?Cannot contain any HTML code, detailed information about store policies, other store-specific languages or multiple lines of information.

?“Line break” characters (such as “enter” or “returm”) will cause problems with your file.

?Information about size, fit, and dimensions is helpful for selling clothing products.

An example is as follows:

?Acceptable: This dress shirt is 100% cotton and fits true to size.

?Unacceptable: This<b>dress shirt</b> is 100% cotton and <ifits true to size</i>.

Note:

?If the unit of quantity of the product is special, it needs to be clearly marked. For example, a pair, a dozen, a box, etc.

?The uniqueness or difference of the product can be displayed at the front of the description, so that customers can directly understand the advantages of the product.

?The description needs to be concise. Foreigners have very different reading habits from Chinese people. Complex descriptions can easily cause customers to be disgusted.

?There is no need to repeatedly fill in logistics information such as logistics channels and delivery time in the description.

?If the description text is really long, you can leave a line blank to enhance the aesthetics of the text layout.

3. Tags

Tags are non-hierarchical keywords assigned to each product in the source file. This type of metadata helps describe and classify products, and is convenient for users to find them again when browsing or searching on wish.com. Product tags should be separated by English commas. The more tags you add, the more accurate the description is, and the higher the chance that users will find your product. Each product can have a maximum of 10 tags. If more than 10 tags are added, the extra tags will be ignored.

Common tag writing method: product category name + product attribute word/modifier + product usage scenario.

For example:

?Acceptable: Shirt, Men’s Fashion, Navy, Blue, Casual, Apparel

?Acceptable: Women’s Fashion, Jewelry & Watches

?Acceptable: Men’s Fashion, Suits, Mafia, Silk Tie, Ties

?Unacceptable: Clearance Items

?Unacceptable: Cheap Cheap Cheap

?Unacceptable (too many labels): Fashion, Suits, Ties, Silk Ties, Men’s Suits, Italian Made Suits, Italian. Men’s Fashion, Hand Crafted, Silk, High Quality

When filling in the label and entering English, a list of multiple commonly used labels will pop up for easy selection. At this time, use the mouse (or the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard) to select the desired label in the drop-down menu and click (or press the Enter key) to confirm.

If the entered tag does not exist, there will be a prompt to create a new tag. Select “Create new tag:XXX” to confirm.

Notes:

?Tags are generally composed of 2~3 words. Some brand words can reasonably appear in tags.

?Tags have a wider range than keywords. Tags can start from product attributes and select multi-dimensional descriptive adjectives or product application scenario words.

?Wish will automatically supplement and optimize product tags and automatically add more tags. In addition, in third-party data analysis tools such as ERP, Haiying Data Platform, and Miku Data Platform, there will also be “User-filled Tags” and “Wish Optimized Tags”.

4. Unique Id

Onique Id refers to the unique SKU number used by the merchant to identify this product internally. Wish will use the SKU number to identify, track, update and report the product.

For example:

?Acceptable: HSC0424PP

?Acceptable: 112123343455432

?Unacceptable: 2

?Unacceptable: a

SKU definition:

SKU=Stock Keeping Unit, basically includes three concepts: item, code, unit. For ease of understanding, SKU is usually defined as the smallest available unit for inventory control. For example, the pink S size in a women’s clothing is a SKU, the M size is a SKU, and the L size is also a SKU. So generally speaking, a women’s clothing has 6 SKUs, including S, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL.

For example:

A women’s skirt has two colors, red and green, and 5 sizes, including S, M, L, XL, and XXL.

SKU numbering rules: WD01 category + 001 (style code) + color + size

Refer to the above writing method, taking high heels as an example, if there is one color and multiple sizes, fill in the Unique Id first, and then fill in the corresponding SKU in the specific size later.

Notes:

?The standardized use of SKU is a prerequisite for the use of the ERP system, otherwise it will cause product confusion.

?SKU is mainly used internally by merchants and can be freely written. There are no mandatory requirements and rules. Merchants can use it at their convenience.
