As the largest cross-border e-commerce platform in Latin America, MercadoLibre has attracted a large number of customers to shop on it. In the process of shopping, returns are inevitable. So, how long is MercadoLibre’s return period? At the same time, let us understand the regulations on MercadoLibre’s warehousing difference charges.

1. Return period.

MercadoLibre allows sellers to set the return period relatively freely. Generally, sellers will provide customers with a return period ranging from 14 days to 3 months, and the most common period is 30 days. Some sellers may advertise a longer return period in their marketing activities.

For sellers, a shorter return period can effectively reduce forced refunds caused by products that cannot be resold, product series removed from the shelves, peak seasons passing, or size changes. However, in the eyes of buyers, a shorter return period may cause them to not have enough time to check or try on the product, thus giving up the purchase. A longer return period can help increase the conversion rate of products and reduce the return rate. Providing a longer return time can give buyers a more confident purchase guarantee and promote repeat purchases.

2. Inbound Difference Charges.

Starting from March 2022, if there is a difference between the inventory of goods declared by the seller and delivered to the Meikeduo warehouse, an inbound difference fee will be charged. In order to optimize transportation processing time, Meikeduo will charge a fee based on the difference between the declared inbound and the actual inbound per unit of the goods.

For example, if the seller declares that 100 units of goods will be delivered to the Meikeduo warehouse, but actually receives 130 units, Meikeduo will charge an additional 30 units of inventory difference fee. Whether the difference is positive or negative, the fee will apply.

In order to avoid problems during operational adjustments, sellers will have a 20% threshold inventory difference tolerance for each shipment.

In addition, after March 2022, goods abandoned in the Meikeduo warehouse will also be charged per unit, and the fee depends on the size of the main packaging.

These regulations and charging measures are introduced by the Meikeduo platform to maintain its good operating order. As a fast-growing cross-border e-commerce platform, Meikeduo has attracted a large number of sellers and customers, and has therefore formulated various rules. Sellers are also doing their best to retain customers. I hope all Meikeduo sellers will have good luck on this platform.
