North America Unified Account FAQ1What is a North America Unified Account?

A North America Unified Account makes it easier for you to share product information and manage inventory in a unified manner across Amazon’s U.S., Canadian, and Mexican marketplaces. For more information, see Selling in Amazon’s North American marketplace.

2How do I create product information in Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.com.mx marketplaces?

If you have completed registration on any of Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, or Amazon.com.mx, you can list eligible products in all three marketplaces. To switch marketplaces, select www.amazon.com, www.amazon.ca, or www.amazon.com.mx from the marketplace drop-down list in the upper right corner of your seller account.

3How do I verify if my account is a North America Unified Account?

The easiest way to verify if an account is a North America Unified Account is to see if there is a marketplace switcher at the top of your seller account.

4I have accounts registered in multiple North American marketplaces. Can I merge these accounts?

No. Existing accounts in each marketplace cannot be merged. Each selling account has its own unique Unified Account.

5Do I need to open a local bank account in each marketplace country?

No. If you already sell on Amazon in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, you can use your existing bank account to accept payments in local currency through the Amazon Currency Converter for Sellers (ACCS). If you are a new seller registering to sell in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, you can use your local bank account to receive payments directly in local currency as long as you have a bank account in an Amazon-supported country.

6What if I don’t want to sell in more than one marketplace?

If you have upgraded to a linked account, but do not want to sell in another marketplace, you can simply switch the marketplace switcher to the country where you originally registered. Your products will then be listed only in that marketplace.

7Can I enter separate account information data for each marketplace (for example, for different legal entities or bank accounts)?

Yes, you can customize your account information for each North American marketplace. The information entered during registration will become the default data for each marketplace until you update each marketplace with the applicable information. To change your account information, select Account Information from the Settings tab on the right side of your seller account.

8Can I set marketplace-specific listings, quantities, and pricing for the same SKU?

Yes. Listings can be marketplace-specific. You can set different listings and prices for the same SKU in different marketplaces.

9How do I manage inventory that I fulfill myself?

If you fulfill orders yourself, you can choose one of two ways to manage your inventory:

Use the same SKU in each marketplace and manage your inventory as pooled inventory. If you do this, your inventory availability in each marketplace is the total of your inventory in all three marketplaces.

Use different SKUs in each marketplace so that you can manage your inventory availability in each marketplace separately.

10How do I manage my FBA inventory?

FBA sellers can manage their inventory by keeping it separate because Amazon’s U.S., Canadian, and Mexican fulfillment centers are not connected to each other. To learn more about sending inventory to North American fulfillment centers, visit the Standardized Shipment Creation Workflow help page.

11What fees do I have to pay to sell with a Unified Account?

For all per-item transaction fees, you pay the fees applicable to the marketplace where the item is sold. However, if you sell in North America, you only pay the monthly fee for the Professional Selling Plan. The monthly fee for the Professional Selling Plan is based on the Amazon marketplace where you initially registered. For example, if you initially registered to sell on Amazon.com, your monthly fee would be listed in the Amazon.com Selling on Amazon Fee Schedule.

12Can I delete a SKU in all marketplaces at once? Or do I need to delete it in each marketplace separately?

Product creation and deletion are marketplace-specific, and you need to delete products (and SKUs) in each marketplace separately. For seller-fulfilled products, setting the quantity to zero will cause the listing to be deleted from all marketplaces.

13Are North American Unified Accounts the same as European Unified Accounts?

No, North American Unified Accounts are only available to sellers registered on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, or Amazon.com.mx.

14Do I need to be a Professional Seller to have a Unified Account?

Sellers with a Professional selling account can use their unified account to sell in all North American marketplaces (the United States, Canada, and Mexico). This feature is not currently available to sellers with an Individual selling account.

15What happens if I upgrade to a Professional selling account?

Upgrading to a Professional selling plan will incur a monthly fee instead of a per-unit fee when an item is sold. You will pay this fee regardless of whether you have listed or sold any items. A Professional selling account gives you access to additional tools such as international listing creation and inventory template file uploads, and you can request access to the Amazon.com.mx marketplace.

16What happens if I downgrade to an Individual selling account?

Downgrading to an Individual selling account will incur a per-unit fee when an item is sold instead of a monthly fee. Because Amazon.com.mx only supports Professional selling accounts, your Amazon.com.mx account will also be terminated. Your Amazon.com and Amazon.ca accounts will not be affected. Before downgrading your selling account, make sure you fully understand how your fees and access to Seller Central tools will be affected.

17If I ship to Mexico, how can I ensure that I meet Amazon’s international shipping transit time requirements?

Data on orders that sellers ship from the United States to Mexico themselves shows that orders shipped using the United States Postal Service (USPS) (the USPS ships products in Mexico through SEPOMEX) do not meet Amazon’s international shipping transit time requirements. To ensure a first-class customer experience when shipping from the United States to Mexico, we strongly recommend that you use alternative carriers (such as FedEX, DHL, UPS).

18Do I need to apply for Amazon Brand Registry for my Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.com.mx selling accounts?

If you have a North American Unified Account and your brands are approved for Amazon Brand Registry on Amazon.com, they are automatically approved for Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx as well. To ensure that your product information is synchronized across different marketplaces, provide the same key attribute values for a specific ASIN in all marketplaces.

If you do not have a North America Unified Account, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx will not automatically approve your brands, even if they are approved for Amazon Brand Registry on Amazon.com. In this case, you must apply for Amazon Brand Registry approval for each marketplace separately.

19Can I have different store links for different marketplaces in my North America Unified Account?

The option to customize your store link only appears in the Amazon marketplace where you originally registered. For example, if you originally registered to sell on Amazon.com, your listings on Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.com.mx will all have an Amazon.com store link.
