For many years, Cdiscount has been known for its low prices and good quality, which often attracts price-sensitive consumers.
Buyers can place orders using the group’s portal, which offers more than 18,000 parcel pickup points throughout France. This greatly facilitates buyers and saves on shipping costs.
How to sell on Cdiscount?
Listing
The seller interface is available online or through the API. The listing process has a lot to do with whether your product is already listed in the Cdiscount catalog.
For products already in the catalog, sellers need to set the price, the newness, and the current stock level. As soon as the stock is added, it will appear on the Cdiscount website. Flash sales can be pre-set with the expected value and amount of the discount.
For products not in the catalog, sellers can send a file via email or Cdiscount API. In both cases, Cdiscount will complete the integration of the product information on its own. The seller cannot intervene, just like Amazon. (In fact, Cdiscount is similar to Amazon in many ways) So for old Amazon sellers, Cdiscount is very easy to use.

OrderProcessing
When an order is placed, the seller will receive an email. This order must be processed and confirmed to be in stock within 2 days. The order amount will also be deducted from the buyer’s account.
To receive the payment, the seller must have:
The payment platform fee is in the Cdiscount account;
The bank account is available;
Three settlements per month, unless there is a complaint, generally no deductions will be made;
Customersupport,returnandrefund
As mentioned earlier, Cdiscount requires French customer service, and there are many things that customers need to negotiate:
The goods have not been received. Cdiscount recommends communicating with the package operator to refund or resend to the customer as soon as possible.
Not consistent with the description. Cdiscount hopes that the seller will refund and accept the return as soon as possible.
The product is defective. Customers generally request a return, and the seller provides a refund and replacement of the product.
Other reasons for return. In France, customers have the right to return the product within 15 calendar days after delivery. The seller must refund the money minus the cost of return.
Claim for counterfeit goods. It is strictly forbidden to sell Cdiscount counterfeit products and products with religious and political overtones. In this case, the seller will be directly deducted until the store is closed.
PS: As long as there is a dispute between buyers and sellers, Cdiscount will usually stand on the buyer’s side, just like Amazon.
Sellerperformance
Cdiscount does not have Sellerperformance, which is different from Amazon. This indicator is not a way to win the shopping cart. Here, price is king. There are also sellers who use Cdiscount’s logistics service FBC. Cdiscount buyers can join Cdiscount à Volonté members and enjoy free shipping services for only 19.99 euros a year.
In 2015, Cdiscount began to closely monitor the performance of sellers. If too many complaints are received, the account will be directly blocked. In the past year, this phenomenon of blocking has become more and more common, but compared with Amazon, Cdiscount is still very kind. Blocked sellers also have the right to appeal, but they should adapt to the pace of Europe and wait, wait and wait…
Shipping method (pain point coming)
Cdiscount provides buyers with the following options:
Home delivery
Delivery to its stores
Pick up from the seller’s own store
Pick up at the delivery point
For not picking up directly from the seller’s own store, the seller needs to set the postage for each item, and can also set multiple products in one order.
Cdiscount’s own warehouse provides FBC (Expédié par Cdiscount) and free delivery service, a bit like Amazon Prime called Cdiscount à Volonté.
Home delivery
There are three ways to deliver to your home
Standard, tracked, signed
For a product valued at less than 40 euros, customers can choose any one. Between 40 euros and 10,000 euros, customers can choose tracked or signed. For more than 10,000 euros, they must sign in person.
Sellers can choose not to provide surface mail at all (it is not uncommon for many customers to stare and say that they did not receive it), but they must provide other options. For products below 40 euros, if the seller does not set it specifically, it will be defaulted to surface mail.
When multiple products come from the same seller, the system will automatically calculate the discounted price. Charge one product first, and then add the discounted shipping fee on top.
Self-collection service
For the collection of goods from stores under the Cdiscount Group, including Casino and Geanthypermarkets and supermarkets, as well as LeaderPriceand Franprixstores. However, this method requires Cdiscount to authorize selected products, mainly some small products.
For those who have their own stores, buyers can pick up the goods in the store themselves, but it must be completed within 6 hours from ordering to picking up. This use is applicable to the immediate collection service that has been marked and no transportation costs will be charged.
The supported collection point networks are RelaisColis, MondialRelayandS Colissimo. If the buyer chooses this service, the order will be delivered to the designated collection point. This service is only available if the seller has set it up.
ExpédiéparCdiscountandCdiscountàVolonté
Cdiscount provides its own logistics, let’s call it FBC, which not only serves Cdiscount’s own market, but also provides logistics services for other platforms. This is the same as Amazon’s FBA. Cdiscount has already marketed this service, called Expédié par Cdiscount.
Expédié par Cdiscount offers warehousing and dropshipping services. As long as your goods are placed in Cdiscount’s warehouse, this service is actually very new, about a year old, and you must apply by email. If you use Cdiscount’s FBC, you will have a special logo on the website and qualify for free shipping.
Cdiscount also has a service similar to Amazon’s Prime, called Cdiscount à Volonté, which costs 19.99 euros for the whole year. If you want to enjoy free shipping, you need to spend more than 25 euros on a single order. This program has been around for about two years and it is growing rapidly. Expect it to become a more popular service.
Using Cdiscount’s own logistics system will greatly improve the user experience, which everyone actually understands Amazon’s FBA.
One thing is different from Amazon. The shipping costs for orders on Cdiscount’s own platform and external platforms are the same, but FBC does not disclose the costs of receiving, sorting and packaging.
How to become a successful seller on Cdiscount?
In fact, Cdiscount is very advantageous for 3C products, fashion products and some related products, and there are many sellers in this area. However, Cdiscount has always attached great importance to recruiting home sellers. Cdiscount has its own repricing function. When sellers use “FloorPrice”, the price will be automatically lowered every time until it is adjusted to the cheapest price. Isn’t it tiring? This function is really cruel and will push prices down until competitors raise their prices or drive them out of the market.
