International credit card payment fees
(1) The cardholder’s overseas card payment bill generally includes a card fee of 3% to 4%. In addition, international card organizations such as VISA or MasterCard charge the issuing bank an international transaction fee of 1% to 1.5% of each transaction. Although this fee is charged to the bank, the fee is actually borne by the cardholder, and the handling fee or exchange fee charged by each bank is 1% to 2%.
(2) In the past, if you use an international credit card to pay for consumption, the same interest rate will be applied, and a uniform fee of 3% of the transaction amount will be charged. However, this regulation has been revised. The latest regulations of VISA/MasterCard International Organization refer to international practices and the credit card fee standard is implemented at 1.5% of the transaction amount. At present, a product worth 1,000 yuan only needs to pay a handling fee of 15 yuan, which is reduced by half.
(3) Of course, in some special areas, there are also special handling fees. The handling fee for installment payment by card is also subject to the rate indicated on the payment page.
(4) For all categories that have not opened credit card payment but meet the credit card payment qualification requirements and cannot pay large amounts through credit cards, you can choose to pay a 1% service fee of the transaction amount (including shipping costs) to complete the payment.
(5) If you do not have a local bank card when traveling abroad, a handling fee will also be charged when you use an international credit card to withdraw money from an ATM. For example, the handling fee of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China is 2%, and the handling fee of Agricultural Bank of China is 5%.
