The formation of core competitiveness is not achieved overnight, but a long-term cultivation process. In this process, if the obstacles to the formation of core competitiveness cannot be removed in time, the core competitiveness will die. In addition, the cultivation of core competitiveness is more important. If the core competitiveness cannot be updated and improved in time, it will eventually lead to the loss of core competitiveness. Therefore, we should be aware of the problems of core competitiveness in the survival and development of enterprises.

(1) Enterprise leaders lack the awareness of core competitiveness. The objective evolution of competitive ability is inevitable. Faced with this objective and irreversible process, enterprises must make efforts from the subjective side to maintain the leading core competitiveness and gain competitive advantage. If the concept of core competitiveness does not enter the consciousness of enterprise leaders, then the cultivation of core competitiveness will become an unconscious enterprise behavior, and the speed and intensity of its cultivation will be much slower and weaker than the conscious shaping and improvement behavior of enterprises. Therefore, the indifference of enterprise leaders to the core competitiveness awareness is a sufficient condition for enterprises to lose their core competitiveness.

(2) Enterprises lack core technology and lasting technological innovation. Lack of core technology is fatal to enterprises in improving their core competitiveness. Without core technology, it is difficult to obtain excess profits in the market and form their own competitive advantages. On the contrary, if an enterprise has a key technology that can achieve success, then this key technology will become a core competitiveness that is difficult for competitors to surpass. In addition, the lack of persistent innovation in core technology by enterprises has led to the inability to maintain core competitiveness for a long time. Without technological innovation, corporate strategy cannot be realized, and enterprises cannot form and cultivate their own core competitiveness.

(3) Strategic positioning issues. In the process of improving the core competitiveness of enterprises, strategic positioning plays a very important role. However, Chinese enterprises have inherent deficiencies in strategic positioning. If the business strategy of an enterprise is not based on core competitiveness, the advantages of core competitiveness cannot be fully exerted. Enterprises blindly implement diversification strategies, but diversification operations that are not related to core competitiveness will have a destructive effect on the cultivation of core competitiveness. To implement a certain strategy, this strategy must be based on core competitiveness, and through this strategy, the core competitiveness can be strengthened to be called accurate strategic positioning. In other words, the strategic positioning of an enterprise should be considered from the perspective of the cultivation, growth and accumulation of the core competitiveness of the enterprise.

(4) The issue of updating core competitiveness. As time goes by and the market environment changes (including consumer preferences, industrial structure or technological changes), if an enterprise does not pay attention to the updating of its core competitiveness, its original core competitiveness may become outdated or even lost. However, in many enterprises in my country, due to inflexible operating mechanisms, imperfect corporate systems, conservative business concepts and other reasons, the core competitiveness cannot be updated in a timely manner, and the enterprises that originally had strong vitality are declining. Therefore, we must pay close attention to changes in the internal and external environment of the enterprise, insist on continuous innovation of the core competitiveness of the enterprise, have a clear understanding of its own lasting and unique core competitiveness, and adjust its business strategy as the industry’s value-added structure changes.
