Whether you are adding new products individually through the Amazon backend or publishing new products in batches by uploading an inventory file template, you need to fill in the UPC product code. Below we will explain each of these two upload methods.
(1) Add New Products. The Add New Product tool allows you to create new product detail pages and listings one by one. Under the “Inventory” link, click “Add New Product.” If you search for a product and find it in Amazon’s catalog, the system will automatically enter the UPC or EAN for you and you can continue to create your listings. If you are creating a new product detail page, you can enter the UPC or EAN on the “Add this product to our catalog” page after you have completed the product classification.
(2) Inventory File Template Import. The Inventory File Template allows you to enter data for multiple products using a pre-formatted spreadsheet and then upload the completed file to Amazon. Amazon will match your data with existing products in the catalog; if no match is found, a new product page will be created. When preparing an inventory file template, enter UPC data in the following two fields:
①Product ID: The unique code of the product, which is actually UPC (12 digits) or EAN (13 digits).
②Product ID Type: The type of unique code entered in the Product ID field, UPC or EAN.
Note: Depending on the template you use, the names of these fields may be slightly different. For example: Your template may have a “standard-product-id” or “StandardProductID” field instead of a “productid” field.
