Calculate inventory (Shopify admin)

If you enable Shopify to update your inventory, then make sure that you understand how items are counted and tracked when you receive them from your suppliers. The number of incoming items changes based on how many items you received (whether you marked the items as accepted or rejected).

Tip: You can find the number of incoming items for a product on the product details page in the Inventory section (or in the Variants section for a product variant).

For example, let’s say you want to transfer 10 items.

If you ordered 10 items, received 7 of them, and marked 4 of them as accepted and 3 of them as rejected, then you would have 3 incoming items for that product. This is because you’ve indicated that although 3 of the items you received weren’t what you expected (the 3 that you marked as rejected), you still received 7 of the items you ordered.

Undo a transfer from a supplier

If you made a mistake when creating a transfer or receiving items, you need to delete the transfer, adjust the quantity received in the transfer, or manually adjust the inventory of the products to correct the error.

Undo an action for an unreceived transfer

If you did not receive any inventory for the transfer, open the transfer on the Transfers page and make any changes you want to the transfer.

If you want to adjust the quantity, click the arrows or manually enter the correct quantity in the Quantity column in the Add products section.

If you want to remove products from the transfer, click the X next to the products you want to remove and click Update inventory transfer.

If you want to delete the transfer, click More Actions > Delete transfer.

Undo an action for received inventory

If you have already received any inventory for the transfer, including a partially received transfer, you cannot delete or adjust the quantity in the transfer.

If you want to undo the quantity you received, open the transfer you want to change, click Receive inventory, and then manually enter a negative value for the quantity, or click the down arrow to deduct from the amount you previously received.

If you no longer expect to receive a transfer and want to cancel the remaining quantity, open the transfer you want to change and click Receiving inventory>Reject all unreceived to reject all quantities that have not yet been received. The transfer is marked as completed and the incoming quantity for the product is adjusted.
