The disadvantages of my country’s cross-border e-commerce logistics are mainly manifested in the following aspects:
First, the logistics cost is too high. Cross-border e-commerce logistics needs to expand from domestic to foreign countries. The entire logistics industry chain has become longer and there are more links, so the logistics cost has risen sharply. It is worth noting that in the customs and commodity inspection links, there are many uncontrollable factors, the operation is more difficult, and the market risk is increased, which will increase the logistics cost of cross-border e-commerce.
Second, the logistics distribution cycle is too long. In China, the inadequate logistics distribution of e-commerce is often the focus of consumer complaints; in the development of cross-border e-commerce logistics, the long logistics cycle is the most unsatisfactory for consumers, because cross-border e-commerce faces a longer industrial chain and more logistics links. Among them, the waiting time for customs clearance and inspection and quarantine is indispensable, resulting in the average logistics cycle of cross-border e-commerce being often more than 5 times that of domestic e-commerce logistics, which seriously affects the development of cross-border e-commerce in my country.
Third, it is difficult to keep up with the after-sales service of logistics. There are many links involved in cross-border e-commerce logistics, and the possibility of return and exchange logistics is very large.
From the perspective of the characteristics of e-commerce itself, its return and exchange rate is much higher than that of traditional business models. Due to the long logistics cycle and high cost of cross-border e-commerce, it is often difficult to meet consumers’ return and exchange requirements. For example, in developed countries in Europe and the United States, there is a culture and consumption habits of return and exchange. When my country’s cross-border e-commerce enters the markets of these countries, the return and exchange rate is often high. However, due to the lack of strong logistics support and smooth logistics channels, returns and exchanges become very difficult. In particular, the logistics costs of returns and exchanges are too high, and sometimes the logistics costs even exceed the value of the goods themselves. Many cross-border e-commerce logistics companies in my country have to struggle to support it.
