If the seller’s main identity is an individual and wants to convert to a company, or if it was originally a company and now wants to convert to an individual, this involves the conversion of the seller’s main identity. What should I do at this time? Due to Amazon’s regulations that the same identity cannot register two or more accounts, the only option is to cancel the registered account and then register a new account. How to cancel the account? The following takes the US site as an example to demonstrate the cancellation process.

The first step is that the seller can click “Contact Us” and find “Close Your Account” in “Your Account”.

The second step is to click “Close Your Account”. After jumping to the page shown in Figure 3.6, the seller fills in the email, phone number, and remarks in “Contact Seller Support” and then clicks “Submit Application”.

Before canceling, the seller needs to know the following.

1. Account cancellation is a permanent operation

After canceling the account, the product will be deleted from the Amazon website and the seller will not be able to access the seller backend. This includes being unable to view order history, unable to process returns, unable to issue refunds, unable to reply to Amazon Marketplace Transaction Guarantee Claim (A-to-Z) emails, and unable to contact buyers. However, the seller is still responsible for handling all Amazon transaction guarantee claims and unsettled negative balances that occur after the account is closed.

2. Conditions required for closing an account

To successfully cancel an account, the seller needs to handle the following matters

(1) The seller must stop selling all products.

(2) If using FBA, the FBA products must be removed from the warehouse or destroyed

(3) Complete all transactions with buyers. If the seller has unfinished transactions, he/she must first process the unshipped orders and complete all transactions with the buyer (including issuing all necessary refunds).

(4) If the seller still has a balance in his/her account but has not linked a bank account for receiving payments, the seller must add a valid bank account (P card or WF card) to facilitate Amazon to transfer the payment to the seller’s account.

(5) Pay the corresponding monthly rent and other deductions. To avoid unnecessary deductions, the seller can downgrade the account type to an individual seller before canceling the account to prevent deductions that may be incurred if the cancellation is unsuccessful. If the seller finds that there are other charges after successfully canceling the account, he can contact Amazon to handle it. If necessary, he can also choose to cancel the dual-currency credit card bound to the original account.

(6) Before cancellation, if the seller’s account is frozen (blocked), the seller needs to appeal first. After the appeal is successful, the store will be unblocked and the account can be cancelled. In other words, the account can only be cancelled if it is “healthy”.
